Speech by Maria Boura - Executive Advisor, Leadership | Strategy | 5G & Beyond and Co-Founder of the Women Leadership Hub

In the context of the course "Sustainable Cultural Development and ESG for Digital Cities", of the MSc Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT & Advanced Technologies, we had the honor to welcome Maria Boura - Executive Advisor, Leadership | Strategy | 5G & Beyond and Co-Founder of the Women Leadership Hub - an exceptional professional with deep knowledge in technologies and strategy.

During the lecture critical issues were presented:

- Hard vs. Soft Skills: flexibility, resilience, empathy, analytical thinking, technology skills and artificial intelligence are critical for future challenges.

- Digital Transformation.

- Smart Infrastructure: From Smart Ports with automatic controls and drones, to Smart Factories with robotic arms and autonomous AGVs.

Maria Bura has more than 30 years of international experience in the ICT industry. She has pioneered the introduction of all generations of mobile communications in SE Europe, is a recognized thought leader with a growth mindset and an inspirational speaker on ICT, Women and Leadership. In addition, Maria is highly committed to contributing to increasing the number of women in STEM and senior leadership positions around the world (co-founder of the Swedish-based NGO Women Leadership Hub since 2016). She is also a mentor of start-ups in collaboration with major international organisations. * As of February 2022, Maria is working independently as an Executive Advisor on Strategy, Leadership and 5G & beyond technology. Her mission is twofold: on the one hand to help shape successful national digital policies regarding 5G and sustainable development, and on the other hand to support market players to formulate effective growth strategies leveraging cutting-edge technologies - such as 5G, IoT, AI, whatever industry they belong to. Prior to February 2022, Maria was for decades a senior regional executive at Ericsson, a leading ICT vendor to telecom operators worldwide, where among other things, she served as the company's representative in Southeastern Europe at major forums and national ICT industry associations for many years. Originally from Greece, having lived and worked in 4 other countries, Maria started her career as a Telecommunications Engineer in Research & Development. Besides Ericsson, she has also worked at Intracom Telecom and the National Research Centre for Physical Sciences "Demokritos". She holds a degree in

a degree in Physics from the University of Patras and a Master's degree

Degree in Telecommunications from the National & Kapodistrian University of Patras, Greece.

He holds a Master of Science degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
