Animated Athens: Echoes of Themistokleous Street A pioneering animation workshop highlights the cultural identity of Themistokleous Street.

A unique cultural and creative expression event will come to life in the center of Athens as part of the European Heritage Days 2025, with the theme:
“Architectural Heritage – Bridging the Past with the Future”
September 26–28, 2025

The workshop “Animated Athens: Echoes of Themistokleous Street” is part of the joint activities of the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educational Programs and the Service of Modern Monuments & Technical Works of Attica, Eastern Central Greece and the Cyclades of the Ministry of Culture.

In collaboration with ANIMASYROS and with the participation of students from the MSc program " Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies", the workshop focuses on the architecture and history of the historic Themistokleous Street in Exarchia.

From the iconic Trifyllio Megaro and the Exarchia Theater to Vox and Exarchia Square, participants will use the art of animation to convey the memories, the forms and atmosphere of an area with a vibrant cultural and social identity.

The project connects the past with the present through the eyes of the younger generation, using creativity, imagination, and digital technologies as tools.

“Animated Athens: Echoes of Themistokleous Street” is an open invitation to dialogue between architectural heritage and contemporary artistic expression, actively contributing to the formation of the city's cultural identity.
